REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS: 41/26 VENTURE
Overview
In spring of 2007 a group of LGBT community members known as the 41/26 Venture Committee were gathered to assist the Cream City Foundation in allocating funds with the expressed purpose of funding project(s) or program(s) that would address need to strengthen southeastern Wisconsin's LGBT infrastructure.
After formulating ideas for months the committee came to consensus and developed a project that involves a public service campaign around promoting positive images and stories of the LGBT community though advertising and media outlets/earned media.
Advertising
The 41/26 Venture Committee has secured the use of images from the "Shall Not Be Recognized: Portraits of Same- Sex Couples" photography exhibit to use on billboards, transit advertising, and in area newspapers. These images reflect Wisconsin LGBT people who represent the diversity that exists among the LGBT community in our state. To see examples of the images or to learn more about the exhibit, visit www.shallnotberecognized.org. Aside from portraying same- sex couples, these images also speak to a variety of issues in the LGBT community that include: LGBT youth, families, race issues, and access to healthcare.
Media
To compliment and increase the impact of the advertising portion of this program, the 41/26 Venture Committee plans to hire a consultant with media advocacy expertise to further promote the major issues that are included in the advertising piece of this program. Please see the following section for a more detailed description of the services requested.
Services Requested

- Development of Experts Guide for the media- This Experts Guide may be part of a larger media kit that would help reporters locate the experts in the LGBT community on a wide range of issue topics that include, but are not limited to transgender issues, youth and family services, HIV/ AIDS, domestic violence, etc. This Experts Guide will also clarify which organizations are doing work in these respective areas.
- Develop and execute media plan- Using the issues represented in the advertising piece of the program, the consultant will develop an executive plan that will result in stories being placed in local newspapers, radio, and television. Additionally, the consultant will respond to LGBT related stories in the news and serve as the spokesperson for the 41/26 Venture Committee and this project. The 41/26 Venture Committee members will make themselves available as the consultant sees appropriate and necessary.
