From President, Board of Directors
Dear Friend of Cream City Foundation,
Thank you for your on-going support of Cream City Foundation during this past year of transition. Your unwavering support has allowed us to continue our work as we strategically set out to hire new leadership.
On behalf of the Board of Directors for Cream City Foundation, I am pleased and excited to announce that Paul R. Fairchild has accepted the position of President and CEO of Cream City Foundation. In trying to fill the shoes of our former Executive Director, Maria Cadenas, we faced the daunting challenge of identifying CCF's unique strengths and challenges, articulating a powerful vision for the future of our social change philanthropy work, and then finding the right leader for that future.
Since last October, we have conducted an exhaustive national search with the help of McAlpine Consulting, specialists in mission-driven social change, organizational planning and leadership search recruitment. We received over 20 applications from Wisconsin and across the country. While all three national finalists were beyond impressive, Paul’s creativity, extensive fundraising/marketing/PR experience, background on LGBT issues (aging, youth, LGBTQ homelessness, women’s health and equality, HIV/AIDS, human rights, transgender, and immigration) and coalition building skills just took him over the top.
As anyone who has had the opportunity to work with him in Chicago knows, Paul has extensive experience in fundraising and development, relationship-building, and unique marketing campaigns. We are especially fortunate that he brings years of experience leading the development departments of some of the largest and most reputable non-profit organizations in Chicago--including Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights, and Horizons Community Services, now known as The Center on Halsted. Most recently, Paul served as interim C.E.O. and chief development officer of Howard Brown Health Center, where he increased philanthropic giving by 45% during his tenure. An effective and valued coalition-builder, Paul was the only male in Chicago’s LGBT community history to be asked to serve on the Lesbian Community Cancer Project.
Paul is bold, creative, a risk taker, a thinker, has amazing skills and networks and--to top it all off--a great personality and sense of humor. We are, in short, very excited to bring his qualified and unique energy to Milwaukee’s LGBT community.
As we move into the future, please join me in thanking the Cream City Foundation Board, the Transition Team that led the search and strategic assessment of our organization, and Griselda Aldrete, our Interim ED, for nearly a year’s worth of tireless, professional and exemplary effort.
Paul is now packing to head north to begin his role as President and CEO on March 1, 2012, and I know he is looking forward to working with you. Thank you, again, for your ongoing support of Cream City Foundation, especially during this time of leadership transition. I can assure you that the Board of Directors, together with staff, is committed to furthering Cream City Foundation's 30 years of success!
Sincerely,
Jim Schleif, President
Board of Directors
